About the Cover

Cover Figure

Cover picture: Second harmonic generation (SHG) imaging of collagen from 20 µm rat-foot, flexor-tendon cryosections using a Leica TCS SP2 AOBS multiphoton confocal laser scanning microscope. (Top row from left to right) (Green) SHG imaged in backscattered geometry; (red) SHG imaged in transmission geometry (both at x3 zoom using a 40 x 1.25 NA panfluor, oil immersion objective); and (red-green) two-color overlay of the two images (scale bar = 20 µm). The corresponding images in the bottom row were acquired at x5 zoom (scale bar = 10 µm). The pumping wavelength was 880 nm with emission detection set between 435 and 445 nm for SHG in backscatter geometry. See the article by Theodossiou et al. on page 4665.
